For such a simple device, this scanner works remarkably well. (for what I needed it for) The instructions could be a little clearer, but it was easy to figure out the functions with a little trial and error. I would advise the scanner USB to computer hookup because of its ease of use. I found it faster to save the files to the SD card, remove it from the scanner and plug it into my computer, rather than loading from the Scanner. After getting the images off... This is a decent scanner, even though the quality, of course, isn't as good as looking at a projected slide. As mentioned by everyone else, have a needle nose pliers ready. Most slides require one in order to easily remove them. Plastic slide mounts can usually be removed by hand. Depending on the lighting in the slide, you may need to change the scanner's exposure settings for each slide. If the slides are of the same scene, then just setting the exposure once should be sufficient. This is a good scanner for archiving old slides and being able to email them and use them on a photo frame. It's been a lot of fun to see slides that we haven't seen in 30 years!!! |
